The Indonesian Ministry of Trade together with the Indonesian business community wished to foster trade with strategic partners at the World Economic Forum, emphasize their significant role in Southeast Asia while showcasing Indonesia’s rich culture. With a track record of organizing events at the World Economic Forum’s many meetings, we were appointed to organize the Indonesia Night 2016 at the Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, for the second year running.

CASE STUDY: Strengthening Indonesia’s Prominence on the World Stage

THE REQUIREMENT

 

The Indonesian Ministry of Trade together with the Indonesian business community wished to foster trade with strategic partners at the World Economic Forum, emphasize their significant role in Southeast Asia while showcasing Indonesia’s rich culture. With a track record of organizing events at the World Economic Forum’s many meetings, we were appointed to organize the Indonesia Night at the Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, for the second year running.

THE APPROACH: INDONESIA NIGHT

 

In collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Lippo Group, we reached out to the Indonesian business community for sponsorship. We also oversaw the allocation of budget and ensured that the sponsors’ brands were well represented at the event. In a span of six weeks, we conceptualized the event’s theme, produced the event’s promotional material (print and video), designed the sponsored content, organised the venue’s theme and its various components, and then managed the event on ground in Davos, Switzerland.

 

Leveraging on the event for content, we filmed and post-produced sponsored video content and post event highlights. The content was distributed through:

 

  • Sponsors’ owned media channels
  • Local Jakarta Globe news channel
  • Microsite/online publication which Salween designed and developed, www.indonesianightdavos.com
  • On-site at the event itself

THE RESULT

 

The Indonesia-branded event saw Guests-of-Honour Bambang Brodjonegoro, Indonesian Minister of Finance, and Thomas Lembong, Indonesian Minister of Trade, as well as over 500 World Economic Forum attendees enjoying authentic Indonesian food from Bunga Rampai restaurant, music by renowned Indonesia acapella group Penta Boyz, and performances by Malang Carnival dancers. The night received positive feedback from participants, guests, and its 11 corporate sponsors.
